Our Approach to Exterior Works

1

Inspection

Thorough external inspection to identify all issues. We use drones for roof surveys where safe access is limited. Document findings with photos.

2

Diagnosis

Identify root causes, not just symptoms. Damp patches often indicate hidden issues. We investigate properly before recommending solutions.

3

Specification

Detail the work required with material specifications. Provide options where relevant (e.g., repair vs replace). Clear timeline and access requirements.

4

Execution

Scaffolding if needed, then systematic work through the scope. Weather-dependent work scheduled appropriately. Full clean-up on completion.

Why Choose Pimi for Exterior Works

Root Cause Focus

Many exterior problems are symptoms of deeper issues. We investigate properly: that damp patch might be failed pointing, missing flashing, or condensation. Fix the cause, not just the visible problem.

Trade Coordination

Exterior works often involve multiple trades: roofers, renderers, carpenters, decorators. Our in-house team means one point of contact, one schedule, and trades that communicate with each other.

Weather Planning

Exterior work is weather-dependent. We plan schedules around forecasts, have contingency for wet weather, and will not compromise quality by working in unsuitable conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if I need a full re-roof or just repairs?
We assess the overall condition: age of the roof, extent of damaged tiles, condition of felt and battens, and whether there is sagging. If more than 30-40% needs attention, a full re-roof is often more economical long-term. We will give you honest advice based on what we find.
What is the best render system?
Monocouche (through-coloured) is popular for low maintenance. Silicone renders are flexible and breathable, good for older properties. K-rend is a well-known brand with good warranties. Traditional sand/cement with paint is economical but needs repainting. We will recommend based on your property and budget.
Do I need planning permission for exterior changes?
Generally not for like-for-like repairs. Changing materials or colours may need approval in conservation areas or on listed buildings. Adding external insulation can change the building line and may need approval. We can advise on your specific situation.
How do you deal with damp problems?
We diagnose the source first: rising damp, penetrating damp, or condensation all require different solutions. Rising damp needs DPC work. Penetrating damp often comes from failed pointing, damaged render, or gutter issues. We fix the cause, then remediate the damage.
Will scaffolding damage my garden?
We use scaffold boards to protect lawns and spread the load. Scaffolders are briefed on access routes. For tight spaces, we can use mobile towers or cherry pickers. We discuss access and protection before work starts.
